The Pretty in Patchwork sew-along at Threadbias is taking on one project a month from the book “Pretty in Patchwork Holidays”. The maple leaf block is a quick, easy, traditional pattern and has been around forever. The July project for the sew-along is a maple leaf quilt with a modern flair, using modern fabrics, and has maple leaf blocks scattered among negative space. I used a light blue linen and various organic prints manufactured mostly by Birch fabrics. The backing is a stripe by Denyse Schmidt from Hope Valley. I included a couple of extra leaves and turned a few of my leaves in different directions, then quilted using a stippling design.
