Mothers Day 2012

What a great Mothers Day morning I am having!  Happy Mothers Day to my wonderful Mom, whom I get to spend the afternoon with today.  I must mention that I have the most wonderful children, and am so incredibly proud of them.  My husband, what a great handsome wonderful man he is.  Because of him I am doing what I love this morning.  Quilting!!  I am basting a quilt, drinking coffee, watching a movie, with Casey breathing down my neck.  Last week I made an online purchase at Fat Quarters  consisting of a couple of fabric bundles designed by Riley Blake Designs.  When I received them I decided not to use a pattern and just start cutting and sewing.  I also, wanted a speedy finish and decided on a scrappy log cabin block with white sashing and red posts to set off the beautiful fresh colorful fabrics!!

I finished my Hocuspocusville quilt, by Crab-apple Hill yesterday!!  I think I’ve been working on it off and on for about three years.  I loved stitching the houses by hand while watching scary movies.  The original pattern included rick-rack but I decided to omit it for now.  I also, had a blast adding the little hot-fix Swaravski crystals as accents.  I may add more-maybe a lot more-but do not want to take away from the hand-stitched glory of the little houses.  Too many crystals may be a little distracting.  I do love this quilt!!

Last week I came across the Adorable magazine “Mollie Makes”.  Feeling in the Easter-Spring mood, I decided to make one of the little mice that are featured on the cover.  The pattern design is by ”Jenny Dixon” from the UK.  I love how my little mouse turned out.  This little one, is going to my moms house on Easter Sunday.  I think I will put her on a shelf somewhere, and let my mom discover this little one at her leisure.

I finished the top of “Hocus-Pocus-ville”!!

It’s taken me 2 years to get to this point.  It is still a work in progress.

My Great Kids! 12/2011

My husband Craig set aside some time over the holidays to take a family photo of our three terrific children.  The goal was to get a nice, recent picture of our kids to send to his wonderful mother-Gram.  Everyone showed up on time, showered, dressed, and hair in place.

Our three children obviously had the same mind-set and  were all thinking “Plaid”. Many pictures were taken on a beautiful sunny day in various settings at our home. Patience was also on our side that day.

 This picture was the winner!!

Completed this quilt by Starry Night Hollow today, and renamed it “The Gib and Friends”  A Christmas gift for my brother Rich and Reg. I loved making this quilt. It was fun, quick and easy!  Rich’s dog Gibson is in the center.

“Oooopsie-Dazy”

This Halloween quilt is what I have been working on lately.  I’ve  been working on Hocuspocusville by Crab-Apple Hill  for the past 2 years, and now determined to finish it.   Embroidering the last spooky house block, then will work on piecing it together.  Planning on embellishing this quilt with some Swarovski crystals when I get it put together.

Grandmothers dishes was made in 2007.  I accidentally made the label on the back to read ”Broken Dishes”, and decided to leave the label with the mistake.  This was a fun quilt to make.

Schoolhouse quilt- started in 2004-finished in 2007. Was not that fun to make.

My 50th Birthday Morning

I am 50 today.

I’ve had a great birthday.  John and Stephen surprised me thursday night and drove down from college.  Had a nice dinner at BJ’s last night.  Craig, my husband is the best when it comes to birthdays.   Opened some great gifts I really wanted.  A new-nice coffee maker, Gingher designer 5″scissors , a beautiful painting by my Laura, a new flannel nightgown, lots of hugs from my family, and Happy Birthday wishes from all my friends on Facebook.  Hoping to have a glass of wine with my mother later today.
